What Phil is about is that I got the impression from others' comments that some solar controllers "shut off/down" too soon - when perhaps the solar panels feeding them might still be able to just barely maintain enough potential (voltage) on their outputs so as to still supply some charging current if the controllers had not shut off/down. Hence, are there not better controller/panel combinations out there - if you want to spend the necessary dollars - that can overall, each day, soak more energy out of the sky than others.
I guess I'm just trying to carefully size my portable solar panel purchase most-bang-for-the-buck budget. I'm thinking that mono plus a good MPPT controller might be the ultimate combination - but am still not sure. P.S. Mono panel weight is not a concern. :h
