You can get brass air hose quick connects.
Some of my air tool connectors leak a little between the male and female ends. For that reason, I wouldn't use them on gas. Maybe the better quality ones don't tend to leak as much. Absolute freedom from leaking is not generally a requirement for air tools and air hoses, while it basically is for gas.
