I agree.
mobile repairman believes air conditioner is low on freon (or what ever is used now)
He is using some measurement that suggests a "5". After cleaning that is now a "10", but it should be a "15".
No further reports at this time--but I guess I'll hear if the breaker trips again. - Need a pro to set this right. Stop the monkey business before someone is injured or dead.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I'm well over 1000 miles from these folks--so I can't do any hands on.
They have called a mobile repairman who is there right now. - LouLawrenceExplorerA 50 amp coach would be wired with 4 wires, not 3. 2 hots a neutral and a ground. Can't imagine what you are trying to describe as any kind of 50 amp much less anything that isn't ready to kill someone or burn down the coach.
It certainly can't get use of the 100 amps available with your 3 wire description. At the house end of this connection is he simply plugged into a 15 amp circuit? - Grit_dogNavigator

Update
Main breaker is quite hot to the touch--and now will not reset.
I'm suggesting a mobile repair person.
You of all people, camper electrical expert type guy should send them a quarter to call someone else with.
Sounds like they got some serious redneck engineering going on, and if you don’t remember from back in your workin days, some people couldn’t follow instructions enough to tie a pair of shoes. Although there are workarounds for the shoes, but that mess sounds like it’s ready to zap someone or turn something into a very smelly campfire….seriously. - StirCrazyModerator

enblethen,
It is an odd situation. There are two shore power cords--but one is hot and ground the other is neutral. Whoever did it used wire nuts.
There is also a 15 to xx dogbone. That has some melting where it plugs into a #12 cord. The cord is quite long.
The only number I'm sure of is 114 volts under load.
Um.. why don't you fix that with a proper cable and a new adapter while you're at it - StirCrazyModerator

or just unplug, remove the breaker (take pictures how its wired) go to Home Depot get a new one and install it. breakers are easy as heck to change out and in a rv where you can unplug you can isolate the 120V side (turn off your inverter also) and not worry about a shock.
Steve - Missed wired! need to fix and wire properly before rig burns to the ground!
