You would think they wouldn't miss all the easy to access plugs like on the counters for things like phone charging! Don't really think the generator is necessary to charge up the iPhone. D'oh, I should be able to figure this out...
Unless you have a huge rig with a whole house inverter, my experience is that the inverter only powers the entertainment system, things like the televisions, DVD/BluRay, etc. I know in my Airstream the 1000 watt inverter only powers 3 outlets, the television (I only have one), the BluRay player, and an outlet under the dinette for anything else I want.
You can charge a phone more efficiently with a 12v or USB charger.
