I know on the GM pickups that is one indication of a problem with NSBU switch. Sometimes it is just the wire connection being loose or gets water and debris in it. Sometimes it is the switch itself. If you have a code reader you can read the codes. I would try to clear them and see if it helps at least to get it going.
