They got me like that once also. It may be free shipping but if you use the "one click" order button you will be charged for shipping.

You must put an item in your cart, proceed to checkout, and then choose the free shipping option.

Amazon's a problem for us fulltimers - lots of RV parks won't accept USPS shipments, which Amazon seems to be using more and more. And Amazon won't let you specify shipping carrier. So we run the risk of having a shipment refused at the RV park. Usually I can explain to the park that Amazon is screwing us up, and they'll accept the package. Amazon says the only recourse is to ship to an address that will accept anything - say a UPS store. Somebody else suggested having all Amazon shipments sent to General Delivery. Haven't tried that yet.

Amazon does pretty good most of time time, but they sure aren't geared to folks who fulltime.

Unfortunately, several other on-line etailers are doing the same thing. Makes it harder and harder to shop online.

I have bought dozens and dozens of items on Amazon and am a Prime customer.

I agree you have to read the fine print and one also needs to understand who you are buying from.

Amazon sells products bought owned and inventoried by them. They gladly handle shipping issues, issue credits,etc

They also stock other peoples inventory and fullfill orders FOR them.
Usually Amazon is responsible for damages, returns,etc

Then there are products that are sold on the Amazon website but are shipped from the company listed. Read the fine print.
These products are NOT supported by Amazon and you have to deal with the third party.

I had this happen to me this Christmas and it was the first and worst experience I have had on Amazon.

My son bought me a gift on my Amazon wish list. It was the wrong item.
I contacted Amazon and they said my son had to contact the seller to get a RA to return it. Amazon was not responsible as they did not fulfill it.

If it had been fulfilled by Amazon I could have exchanged it with Amazon.



I still don't have the right one and I hope I get it in the next week or so.

I will never put anything on my wish list again that is not fulfilled by A.

that is one reason that I got a new credit card with a low limit and use that if I order from questionable sources.

As said, it's not rocket science. Slow down and don't be too click happy. Before you click to make the purchase, check the shipping options and select the free one.

Haven't had a problem yet and between me and my wife we have ordered plenty.

I live in a rural area and I've found that if I can wait two days for Amazon to ship something for free (Prime), I'm going to save money versus driving 10-20 miles to go buy it, even at Walmart. Overall I'm happy with Amazon and Prime, with a couple of exceptions.

Several times I have paid four or eight bucks extra to have something overnighted, and Fedex is not up to the task. Amazon says they will refund the money automatically if they fail to deliver in one day, but I've never seen it. Unless I call to request a refund, I've never seen a refund.

Secondly, and here's a scam Mex should watch out for:

If an item is fairly specialized, you might see the primary listing from Amazon as, say "$41.99--out of stock". Then underneath you see that it's available from two sellers "from $41.99".

When you click on that link you go to the vendors listing where you find two entries. The first is the orinial listing from Amazon, "$41.99--out of stock". The second is from a tiny or new vendor , "$419.99--free shipping".

While I've had MUCH better results with the vendors on Amazon than I've had on eBay (I'm an eBay jinx--a digital "stuff" magnet), you still have to keep an eye on things with Amazon if you're shopping for specialty items mostly traded by small vendors.

I'm not an Amazon fanboy, but I can't fault their service. When it says "Free Shipping", it is free shipping. But you have to choose "Free Shipping" and you have to practice due diligence to make sure the problem isn't the ole CKB(ChairKeyBoard) interface. :)
