You still have enough rod left, but like mentioned, the tank could use a good flushing. I think that is why the plug end is used up, but not the extended half. My rod gets down to the wire 1/2 to one inch out, due to the crud accumulating around the drain hole area.

I agree for the cost, I change to a new one, after tank flush. How long did it take to get like the picture?
