"Regarding getting more AGM or going Lithium, lithium are not just plug and play. One overcharge or overdischarge can ruin them."
LY - Well sir, that was a polite way of stay with something KISS:)!
And I've been following many from the boating and RV communities journey with Lithium. So have some appreciation of the risks of damaging a bank even more expensive then AGM:)!
I've also been keeping an eye on Firefly. Would like more volume of life usage stories to flow in from boating and RV'er's... Sure does look encouraging, and another KISS level from damage over Lithium and AGM too...
I was again fortified the other day with an adult beverage, reflecting upon what I chose for equipment and batteries 4 1/2 - 5 years ago. I really felt I had chosen good equipment and gear. Believe I worked well with the two different phases of installers on assuring the proper supporting components and connectivities. Called and talked numerous times with the Tech Support from Lifeline, Magnum, MidNite - heck, even Panasonic with questions on our X's 5 High Efficiency 240W Solar Panels.
I do not claim to have always fully understood what they said. But when I was not sure, we talked long enough for me to understand what they felt I should do in a situation (Maybe not the full engineering mumble jumble - but at leas the mechanics of what needed to be done.)
Sure not trying to disparage Lifeline, MidNite and or Magnum - as they all have great reputations. But still remain confused on 'What happened?' - which I believe is valid.
During that reflection, I kept thinking of the Forrest Gump's Mom (In a Non Flying Nun role!). With her "Stupid is as stupid does." line. I do not feel I did anything stupid. I feel I did my due diligence. I did not buy the parts/gear that I did for bragging rights. I chose them because I wanted them to support our travels (As well, as we look at our RV as an emergency support safety item for our family in Earthquake and Fire risked Southern California.).
So that is another reason for not wanting to replace these batteries on the fly. I want time to review with Lifeline (I've sent them a request for guidance.) my practices and settings of the MS2812 and the Classic 150. Why? Because I don't want to toast another set of batteries, regardless of what way I go. And I suppose if this review shows I've done things the right way - then I need to reevaluate my choice.
Many, especially in the boating communities more challenging 'full charge' arena, would say to stop even thinking about it. Five years out of AGM's is OK. Maybe that's valid, but if so, I would probably not pay the higher price and size a larger house bank if it does not yield longer years of usage.
And as I've questioned myself over and over here about all of this... I want to make sure if I've done something wrong in my approach. To correct it going forward... Ok to make mistakes, but best to learn form them:)!
Whine off, and I'll adjust to what we have to deal with for the balance of this trip.
