I'm just trying to clear up what may be a misunderstanding about AGM specs. :)
That is not a low Voltage in the AGM world, but rather an upper limit. Low might be the 14.3V regular charging Volts for Lifelines. The decal on My Deka says charge 13.8-14.6V. It further warns that 14.6V is not to be exceeded. Trojan AGM also has a range beginning at 13.8V.
What is the reason for the 14.7V?

John - AlmotExplorer IIIYes, regular shipping with AGM, often - UPS. I think it cost me $20 per battery to ship from Ca to Wa, don't remember now. Amazon were selling some Dekas of a smaller size with free shipping, but they would cost more per AH and were smaller. Very seldom you will see a good brand with free S/H, especially group 31.
- mena661ExplorerPT, the Fullrivers also charge at 14.7V. And Fullriver makes Rolls Surrette's AGM line.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi Mosey,
I already have temperature controlled charging via my Blue Sky solar controller. - full_moseyExplorerI can get all of these Johnson Controlsin grp 31,34 and 65 about a mile from my home in Oklahoma City. The grp 31s are $180. The grp 34 and 65s are ~53lbs for $135.
What is the reason for an interest in 14.7V? Are you planning to get a temp-comp charger that raises volts in cooler climates? I routinely get 15V charge rates during cold days here. Is that a problem for you?

John - wa8yxmExplorer III$1,799.00
Of course this includes a charge controller, Does it include solar panels.
For 179.9/8 (23 2/3 dollars per amp hour)
That is way more than I care to pay. - 2oldmanExplorer IIThis place has free shipping.

Then at least look into the Fullriver DC105-12 and DC115-12 and compare specs and warranty. The Fullrivers have a 15+ year history in North America with reports of 10+ years of battery life. Vmax is pretty green and their warranty does not inspire confidence in me.
Hi Esox,
I prefer 12 volt jars because I have room for seven in the two house banks. Likely I'll replace the starter battery and go for 8 batteries in total.

Have you considered changing to 6-volt batteries in series/parallel? Eight Fullriver DC220-6 batteries would give you 880 AH. Oh, I just reread your first post stating you are replacing four batteries. I'd call Magnacharge Battery. - pugslyyyExplorerI was able to get 4 Lifeline GPL-4DA batteries for under $2200 delivered a few months ago. That's a good price for 840AH of AGM and you can't beat the Lifeline warranty for RV use.
I don't see the advantage to using a less well known brand for such a small price difference.
VMAX seems to focus on "high power audio systems, special effects and hydraulics" where Lifeline is derived from the Concorde brand aerospace batteries and are used by the military all over the world. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Esox,
