I found a new muffler for about $120 from norwall.com. I was expecting the muffler to be wrapped in a heat sheild and insulation like the old one. but it wasnt.
After soaking the old nuts and bolts for a week I was finnally ready to tackle the job. I was not able to reach two of the muffler flange bolts so out can=me the sawzall. I ended up drilling and tapping new threads on the generator exhaust flange and used stainless bolts with plenty of anti sieze.
the new muffler does not have the turn down tail pipe so I will most likely get one for it.
I am glad I went with original equipment as this muffler is beefy and very quiet. I could hear more of the generator engine noise than I could the exhaust.
