Dumped black tank yesterday after noon, everything seemed fine. got up this morning, flushed toilet and got a geiser of water up over toilet. bowl now full, I went and dumped again. everything pulled out of toilet then. Water all over in pass thru etc. even when I shut off water to toilet & wait an hour I get a little more water draining from black tank. This toilet installed in Aug of 2015. Anyone ever have such a problem???

Dreaded Poo Pyramid? Not a clean job to get the pyramid broken up so it will run on out. When I first got my unit, the previous owner must have left the black tank open and liquids drained and solids stayed. I had a mess for about 3 or 4 dumps, but finally got it working. Also, I have heard if the vent pipe is too far down into the tank or it is blocked from top, this can happen. But, since toilet installed 2015, seems this would have happened before if vent pipe problem? I turned off water outside so toilet would not fill with "more" water and make a bigger mess and then stepped on slide valve and used actually a piece of pvc pipe to break up pyramid... patience and old clothes.

No don't leave valve open. I am the only owner, bought camper new. Drain and flush tank every Friday afternoon. Disconnected sewer hose and let it sit w/o using toilet, still have a drip drip? Guess I will replace toilet again. Water in pass thru was just clear thank goodness.

Judgerr, Your toilet is just fine. That is not your problem. What is your problem is one of three things sort of in order here: **Your black tank dump is plugged up.**Your black tank vent is plugged up.**You have a massive "black pyramid to deal with.Start with the first - If the dump is plugged up with a mix of paper and solids, when you pull the valve, you may get just a trickle. Get a flashlight. With the lid down, step on the pedal. Now, with the lid up step on the pedal and if you see something other than tank bottom. We have a good start. You are at Nr.1 or 3. Nr. 3 does not usually cause a fountain effect.Fixes for a Nr.1 case: First and easiest is get some enzyme based digester and put in a bunch and hope and wait. If next time you pull the valve it dumps at all, you scored. Now repeat this until it is really boring.Second and not as clean, get the dump cap with a garden hose connection, a male to male hose connection, a hose thread valve and a backflow preventer (This is an ESSENTIAL component). Now put that all together so you can put pressure in the dump pipe***. Put some pressure in the dump pipe and pull the valve open. allow 15~30 seconds and close the dump valve. Take the cap off and be ready to catch what comes out. It will not be clean. Now attach the dump hose and try again. This can easily take three reps to get good results. *** This technique is very hazardous because the dump plumbing was not installed with any expectation of pressure in the system.***You can also try to run a plumbing snake up the dump pipe, but I have never seen that less than a disaster even thought it did clear the problem. When the dam gets breached... Katy bar the Door!!Fix for the second case: Get a plumbers snake and get up on the roof, take the cap off the vent and use the snake to clear the vent. The last foot may come up nasty, so be ready.A Fast fix for a "Black Pyramid" is still not nice, but just get a long piece of something rigid that is: Disposable, Easily Cleanable or both. Step on the pedal and try to dislodge the solids in the tank bottom. From now on, use more water. Now you have a guide that would have cost a lot of money at an RV dealer and you don't even need or want to replace the stool. Matt

You do not state if your 3 inch down pipe from the floor to the tank is STRAIGHT down. If it is, you can shine a Flashlight when opening the toilet flush ball and see if there is a blockage. IF your downpipe, makes a angle and you cannot see the tank, odds are that down pipe is clogged at one of the ABS pipe angles. ALL a RV toilet does is dump the sewage to the down pipe and tank. There is nothing on the toilet that will cause diminished output to the dump hose. UNLESS the area above the floor Flange is clogged which is easy to see. I would run a cheap HD/Lowes spring type snake down thru the toilet. You only have to go about 1 to 2 feet depending on how high the toilet is above the tank. IF it does not make a easy smooth shot down, you will have found your problem AND can use that snake to then fix the problem. Doug
