Arduino control

Ok, it has been about two months since I decided to install an arduino control system as opposed to an over the counter system. Today is first successful in that everything is working as designed. Batteries drop to 11.2 volts generator tries to start 3 cycles then goes to trouble..or genny starts. Runs till charged to 14.2 volts and shuts. About $60.and a zillion hours of coding. It works..yeah..
  • Another option depending on how accessable the top of your tanks are is a bulkhead mount ultrasound transducer.

The external capacitor sensing transducers used to be very expensive.

Oh there's also an internal resistive sensor, bulkhead mount. Basically a pressure sensitive strip inside a silicone or PTFE tube. Linear analog output based on fluid level. Nothing to jam or foul, even if paper or detritus gets stuck it won't change the overall pressure.
  • fly any chance on a parts break down and the code from the arduino?

you guys should looks at the esp8226 modules, uses the same ide as the arduino and has wifi built in.
  • for the tank level , there is a Arduino program that does not need to use probes, using capactive sensing i have found, and was then going to use a bluetooth module to send the information to the display

YOu might want to set the generator start voltage a bit higher.. No other comments other than "Good JOb".

I have one Arduino mini that I have setup for a key pad/ RFID door lock on our motorhome so I dont have to worry about loosing my keys at the beach. working on another that uses GPS and a fuel flow monitor to give me MPG or Gallons per mile as well.. next will be the monitors of the tank levels and other controls as well with a touch screen display

Details on the fuel flow sensor?

I was thinking about putting one on the propane line. Hall effect, ultra sonic or microwave.

I have found a project on line that someone had done, and went from there.. here is a like to that https://open.library.ubc.ca/media/download/pdf/52966/1.0074464/1

as our motor home is older it has no engine electronics to get fuel flow or speed info off OBD port
  • Looks like they are popular toys. I started building my tank level sensor last spring. Too cheap to pay $200 for a factory version when I can do it for less than $20, beside, I enjoy the challenge.

Got started with programming but then my previous employer asked me to come back to work for a while. It's on hold.

Will probably start again when I retire again in a year or so.

  • Congratulations on a job well done!

How often does the genny fail to start after the three tries?
