are RV microwave ovens the same as kitchen ones?

our 2006 winnebago itasca had brackets top and bottom of the microwave oven to hold it into a 20 inch by 15 hole.

do non Rv ones have the holes to screw the brackets to the microwave?
thanks all
  • Use a car jack on the stove, shimmed up by telephone books, to hold the MW up to the cabinet bottom while you screw in the holding bolts.

I have found no difference. We have changed 2 in different coaches and the only thing different is you have to adjust the vent to blow in the right direction. The instructions are in the box. Bought both from Home Depot and were shipped free. One was a direct replacement the outher was a upgrade to a convection/microwave.You can find the dimensions of the old one and find one that will fit in the same hole.
All the holes are already there, you don't need to drill new ones.

  • You might want to select a unit that has a mechanical door latch that will stay shut and not allow the platter and carousal merry-go-round roller to fall to the floor while driving.
  • No they are not. MH microwaves vent to the top, household to the back. That may become an issue if you do have not clearance in the back, for it to vent, if you put a household one in
  • MWs are the same, but you have to drill your own holes as required to use the surround.
