Sail switch is located in the back of the furnace on top of the fan housing. You may have to remove the plastic cover. It is hard to see. It is very small, with the arm sticking into the fan housing.
you can locate the white wire on the circuit board, then follow it to the limit switch(verify that the limit switch has continuity) then white wire continues to the sail switch.

I reread your last paragraph. Sounds like dirty sail switch or open limit switch. Yes it could be loose or broken connection.
