Moving right along---- the Hunter drawings linked earlier might give a clue. It looks like you should be able to put a voltmeter on the wire terminals in the Tstat after the call for heat and you hear the relay click up at the air conditioner.
I think the trick would be to put one lead on the "White" and the other on any ground that is handy.
That should show if any 12v got to the White from the Red. If not, the Tstat is not working right looks like. ASSumes there is 12v at the Red and any ground handy.
