The unit is an Atwood Wedgewood Vision from 2011. Pilot lights but goes out when oven knob is turned on. Tried cleaning the thermocouple but no go. Figure it needs to be replaced.I tried to get the thermocouple probe out of the bracket that holds it and the pilot but I can't get it to release. Is it meant to be replaced as a combined unit or is there some trick I haven't figured out?Also, how the heck to you remove the door?

Not sure about the door, but the thermocouple will come out- it just takes a lot of force to make them release. If you have the room, a pair of pump plies can be used to press it out, or very judicious application of a small hammer- once it snaps out, it should come out fairly easily.

The usual cause of pilot light going out when activating the Oven burner is a defective gas tstat valve. THINK of your logic here. The Thermocoupler senses the heat and tells the Oven tstat valve to keep the pilot open and flow the gas. Just turning the oven ON to heat will NOT cause the Thermocoupler to fail. Doug

Well, we'll see. I ordered a replacement thermocouple today. I think it's the more likely failure.

I placed the order before I saw your message.

As with most things RV, I'm learning as I go along. I don't have the experience you do.

Yet, if the thermocouple has failed, it will produce exactly the symptoms I'm seeing. However, I saw another thread on this board that showed the same symptoms that people solved by stuffing cardboard in the knob so that it would clear the pilot detent.

I just went out to the RV and checked the thermocouple. I clipped my DVM set to DC volts to the end that I removed from the gas control valve. Reading went to zero. There was no change when heat was applied to the thermocouple.

Your first post stated that the pilot stayed ON. It only went out when you tried to engage the Oven burner. Correct? It can take up to 30 seconds for the Thermocoupler to react to the heat. Also, it is VERY sensitive. That is why it is critical that the pilot flame be located correctly and be blue and not yellow. Doug

Once I unscrewed the range and pulled it out from its cutout a couple of inches, the new thermocouple slipped in nicely.

Problem solved.
