Yes, it makes a difference. NO awning torsion spring will self wind. You must put the specific amount of turns per length and type awning. BE VERY CAREFULL. If the end or awning slips loose when you are turning it you will get bruised knuckles or torn skin. BOTH are painful. Remember, standing from the rear facing forward the spring is wound clockwise.
