Drill a 5/16" hole at an angle into the groove near an end cap. Use a screwdriver to slide the old traveler down to the hole and slide it out. The replacement strap's traveler slides in the same way. Another option is to drill a 5/16" hole in the end cap in line with the groove, and then slot the rim of the cap to open up the grove.
"1/4" drill bit.........drill into grove where awning strap is at an angle (back at one end)
You can then remove old broken piece and slip new one in it's place."
