FYI
there is NO spring tension on the roller cap
the spring tension is on the awning arm cap
the roller cap is free and only held in place to keep things together
the rivets in the roller can be drilled the cap spun to line up the hole
and a couple of sheet metal screws or new pop rivets used to secure the roller cap after you change the strap
i have done this several times
its a 5 min job
