AZDEL is amazing

Ok having moved from near Canada to the Gulf Coast, I figured I was done with cold weather camping. Somehow our first two trips last fall and ongoing now ended up below or near freezing. But the new camper is made with AZDEL. Really it is shocking how easy it is to keep warm relative to our 10 year older Motorhome which had an enclosed basement (this one is open) and all the winter options I could get.

Good stuff.

X2 I say old 5er but it was a 2010 model compared to our MH which is a 2009 model.
  • I never really thought about it in all our old units up through our 2002 class C. If it was cold the furnace ran almost non stop. If warm same for the AC. We thought it was good just to have ducting just to put some temperate air where you wanted it. And the enclosed basement made the floor less cold than our prior units.

But for winter camping we did not even try to use the plumbing. Always kept it winterized until the daytime temps were above freezing at a minimum.

  • I THINK someone posted some info about AZDEL last year but I don't remember details. Not made of ADZEL but our MH is an order of magnitude better insulated than our old 5er. The furnace cycles at LEAST half as much as the old 5er on a similar cold night. Good insulation really makes a difference.
  • 22' Apex. 2012 or 2013. Just put it away in storage or I could grab more particulars. I had never heard of AZDEL but when I first got it someone posted regarding the features. Between the mirrored windows and AZDEL to reflect the sun, and the AZDEL insulation to keep in the heat, it does really well compared to any other RV I have had at being able to control the temps with a minimum amount of energy.

I wonder if a photocell controlled fan would keep it cooler in summer in storage if I ran it just at night in the summer months. That might be too much to ask even of good insulation with out sun loads here.

  • Glad to hear that. We just bought new TC, livin lite, and it has that stuff through out. 3rd trip coming up!! Yay!
  • I like it as well. Last summer the same size AC kept the larger Azdel covered TT cooler in the heat of a Myrtle Beach day
