Sometimes the molded plastic tangs on the ends of the GCs protrude and interfere with the "same as the group 24 battery" scenario. The tangs are the attachment point for the rope lift handle. - westendExplorerFYI, a 6 V GC2 battery has the same footprint as a BCI Group 24 12 V battery, only the height is different.

Yes, the older Ford Class A gassers were actually John Deere with Ford engines & trans.
As for coach batteries, it depends on your needs. If doing some boondocking then 2ea. GC2 6V golf cart batteries can give you a bit more capacity than 2 12V batteries.
