batteries in my 89 pace arrow 37ft John deer chassis

My two coach batteries are dead. They are not 6 v but two marine 12 v . Are two 6v better then 2 12v? I understand series and parallel wiring. I just need to know what type of batteries are best, the 6v or 12v. Group and size would be helpful

  • NOTE

Sometimes the molded plastic tangs on the ends of the GCs protrude and interfere with the "same as the group 24 battery" scenario. The tangs are the attachment point for the rope lift handle.
  • FYI, a 6 V GC2 battery has the same footprint as a BCI Group 24 12 V battery, only the height is different.

interesting first post. John Deere.. seriously?

Yes, the older Ford Class A gassers were actually John Deere with Ford engines & trans.

As for coach batteries, it depends on your needs. If doing some boondocking then 2ea. GC2 6V golf cart batteries can give you a bit more capacity than 2 12V batteries. If you are normally hooked up while camping then its not an issue.
  • Lots of Dear John chassis on the road. Many have Cat power.

I'll start this off then sit back and watch the fun...

What -exactly- do mean by "better"?

Better for or than what? Specific types of batteries excel on some areas and are weak in other areas...
