Battery charger deep cycle batteries and desulfiting?

I have a 5th wheel in Tahoe that is plugged into to 110 in the winter, and boondocked with solar panels in the summer. It's got 2 6v Trojan batteries that are 5-6 years old with poor maintenance. I've...

I have the my charger plugged into a timer which is set to turn on for only one hour per day. I believe that is all you need to keep the batteries charged and it reduces the risk of boiling off the acid. Does anyone else do this?
