Hello all, new to the forum and I have a question errr, problem.Whenever I plug in my TT, either house electric or plug on my truck, the fuse to the battery pops. It's a 20 amp fuse is this correct ratting?2014 Jayco White Hawk is the camper. Any thoughts or need more information please let me know.

Sounds a little small. Check the size of the wire from the battery to the 12 volt distribution panel. Check the size of the converter output. I would guess it should be at least a 30.I think you have another issue. The truck isn't feeding much more then 20 at the connector.I would check the polarity of your battery. It sounds like it could be reversed.

How do you charge the RV batteries?

If I understand reversed polarity is positive post on the battery becomes the negative post and vice versa correct? If not please ignore below. My understanding of electrical is grab the wrong wire it a shocking experience.Ok, the white lead is negative, it runs to the frame of the TT while the green lead is the positive lead and has the inline fuse plus a lead running to the jack. Now I did take the battery out for the winter, but I took a picture of the connection so when I put it back in I got the leads connected correctly.

The wire size is printed on it and give us the brand and model of the converter.

What converter do you have? The last two digits of the converter model are generally the max output amps of said converter.. So if your converter is say a xx35 then a 20 amp fuse is gonna flashbulb on you... (you need a 40).

Mine is a xx80, and so is the circuit breaker that protects things.

NOTE: for this post ONLY the model number is important, the make is not.

30 amp fuse is appropriate for 10AWG and typical converter output. It may be that when you are plugging into shore power the converter initialy tries to pass a greater current than 20 amps so the fuse blows. Your replacement of a 30 amp fuse may solve all your problems.

If that fuse continues to blow, replacing the fuse with a 30 amp resetting circuit breaker may be a good solution.

10g 30A, if blows when PD charging replace 10g with 8g and 50A.

Got the battery back from O'Reilly's and it passed and fully charged. I actually have two fuse's one to the battery and I replaced it with a 30 amp fuse, so far so good. The wire leading to the jack has a separate 30 amp fuse, why I went with 30 to the battery.

For now I will monitor fuse\battery and I'm still trying to get a response from the trailer sales I purchased the TT from but no response yet. Go Figure.

As for the wire 8 gauge from the trailer into a wirenut(think that is what it's called?) then 10 gauge to the battery and another 10 gauge to the jack. The fuse is between the wirenut and the battery.

PD4000 is the series, the actual model number will likely be PD4045 or PD4060. Neither one will use a 20 amp fuse.

You probably need a minimum of 40 amp protection between the power center and battery. Who might have installed the incorrect size fuse?

Are you sure the 20 amp fuse green wire circuit is not the Jack
I would expect a black wire going to a 40 amp metal auto reset breaker mounted just under the trailer, near the the 'A' frame

Took the battery into O'Rielly's, going to keep it overnight as it needs to charge before they can test it. We shall see.
