Have to be a bit conservative with low impedance thin plate AGM batteries as they will warp the plates during high LONG LASTING amperage transactions. This is what IR scanning your batteries is all about.
If a battery sheds .014" plate material per year how long will YOUR choice of absorbed glass mat battery last? Excessive prolong voltage will strip plates. Remember, temperature is a giant factor.
But like any warranty. OEM over "emphasizes" what high temps will do to the Lifespan. THIMK! If AGM batteries were being destroyed like some manufacturers hoot and screech, wouldn't you think a general alarm would have gone out from the southern states? Aridzona, every summer, commute, 122F outside. A/C on. Stop and go. Underhood temp is insane. Battery is right there. Why hasn't Optima, Odyssey, and 40 other brands gone bankrupt? Gained ogre reputations? Do you think state and local governments would keep supplying fire engines and ambulances with AGM batteries if off-the-chart battery temperatures SURELY WERE SO HIGH, the charts say the battery would last under a year. These entities would SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM if expensive AGM batteries only lasted three years.
Complaints. Motor Trend. Car & Driver. Consumer Reports. Lawsuits. Where is all the noise about AGM battery failures in extreme heat regions? I've been through Phoenix in rush hour in the summer. It is insane nutso kickbutt hot. So hot if you pull into the shade you'll burn your fingers opening your hood then flinch and back off from underhood blast furnace temperatures.

A vast majority of AGM batteries in cycling service do not get recharged correctly. Corrected volt/temp is important make no mistake, but put it in perspective.
