battery draining

Have been running the generator to try and charge battery. At first it says charged 11V, just checked it and now it says no charge at all.

What is the battery voltage when plugged in?
Unplug an hour and measure again.
While still unplugged start the MH and measure the battery voltage again.

Measure right on the battery terminals and post the results.
I speculate you have a charging issue more than a draining issue.

Yes only 1 house battery (purchased used, only 1 batt came with it), and the engine battery. The house battery is the one that is draining, engine starts fine. There is space for more I suppose. We are not using an adapter, hooked up to 50 amp. We have been using an elec heater though, figured it is running off elec. 1 12V battery is what I replaced. Its a 2008 Thor motorhome toy hauler, not 2006, and gas not diesel

You replaced one battery?
Your MH had only one house battery?
My uncle's 2010 Thor had four batteries, two for the diesel and two 6v in series for the house side
Very unusual for a late model RV to have only one house battery

Make sure Everything that can run on battery power is turned off
This included fridge Ice maker, if you have an inverter for 120v
Make sure Everything that can be is on propane

What you describe can be a constant on heavy load
Or a second parallel bad battery
Lights on in the basement storage
Also the battery isolator diodes or relay could be bad
So no charge while driving
You would be hard put to burn out the 30 amp shore plug charging batteries
Are you using a 15amp duplex adapter ? If so you MUST LIMIT your power use
Forget using an electric heater, you can't do that and charge batteries and do other things..too much power too many amps

Btw I leave the engine running, until I'm level
There is no good reason to draw off battery power only..while getting level
before somebody starts..I said nothing about slides
Some Mfg say level then put slides out, some say slides out then level

Leaving the engine running while leveling, or slides out in,
Allow the engine alternator help supply power to the hydraulic pump

Locate your converter. check for reverse polarity fuses normally mounted adjacent to the 12 volt DC wires.
Check the converter output for voltage.
Check for main battery fuse in 12 volt DC section of power distribution center.
What happens when you start main engine? Does it power up the lights, etc?
Look adjacent to the battery for battery disconnect and circuit breaker.

You should have an engine starting battery(s) and house batteries. I've never seen a class A with only one battery that performs both duties.

You changed out one battery - I'll assume it was a 12V? Both the house and starting system works off of 12V. The engine can use one or two 12V batteries. On the house side, while in a small trailer, some of them get by with one 12V battery but on all other larger rigs, it's two or four 6V batteries wired in series and parallel.

In the battery compartment where you changed out the one battery, you said there were no additional cables, but was there room for additional batteries?

The pedestal was checked and everything that is plugged in is working.

We are plugged into shore power and all the plugs and fridge, microwave work. But, battery keeps showing dead on test panel. We only have 1 battery, I read that in the book that they usually have more than 1. I dont see other cables to hook up another battery? I did crank up generator to charge battery, just cant figure out why it isnt charging when plugged in or when driving.

If all else fail when trying to operate the landing gear, crank up the generator. Especially when the batteries are low, this should put a lot of power into the 12V system if the battery charger is working.

Just a question - you said you put in "A" new battery - I don't think I've seen a class A MH with only one battery unless it's the starting battery on a gas engine. Your landing gear should run off of the house batteries and I'm always used to seeing 2 to 4 of them on a class A.
