And yes, I do have an auxiliary switch to start the engine from my coach batteries, so I'd need the retain that feature if I replace the solenoid.
The solenoid is not designed to be overhauled but I have done many. Sometimes the contacts can be flipped over. I would highly recommend just replacing it. If you can't find one with one little terminal easily then just run a small ground jumper to one of the little terminals on the replacement and move the purple wire to the other one.
You can engage that relay for testing by using a small jumper from either of the large posts to the little terminal. It should go thunk. Do not touch the wire leads while you are doing this or you will get bit and jump back. It won't hurt you but getting your knuckles polished while retreating will.
