Yes. $30 panel meter will work as a fuel gauge for battery.
Not as good as more expensive Victron (which has Peukert), but then, Trimetric costs same or more as Victron and don't have Peukert either.
To assume that peukert can be calculated in a variable future use can cause issues. Does the victron have a battery temp sensor? Battery temp plays a large roll in the peukert equation does it not?
