Battery usage

Even a eu2000i, rated at 1600w/13.3a continuous, would struggle to run an 80 amp converter/charger, even if the converter/charger was extremely efficient and pfc.

Likewise, a 900w genset, rated at 700w continuous, will NOT power the average 45 amp converter/charger.

Plus you will want room to power the tv, lighting, pumps, etc., on top of the converters usage, while charging.

Yes if you plan to run the air conditioner.
Otherwise ~150 watts of solar will generally keep the fridge running on propane and the fan running.
Or a small Honda just for emergencies.

When the tow vehicle gets there to take you to a repair facility, or your tow vehicle returns you can jump start the slide.

My battery is good for one night

Also, there is a manual override on the slide but ... May take two VERY BIG men to operate it (mine does)

Now might be a good time to pick up a small portable generator.. Depending on teh size of your converter 1,000 to 2,000 watt range.. Honda or Yahama inverter jobs are best,,, But even the 2-cycle 900 watt job from Harbor Freight should run a 45 watt converter to re-charge batteries (takes a full kilowatt, true Kilowatt to run an 80 amp, a Honda EU-1000i is not a true Kilowatt and will not do it I am told)

Thank you all for the great advice. My husband called GS back and they said the tow people should have moved us to a campground nearby. The tow truck driver told us he didn't know that.
When we bought the GS policy I think we bought every option they had. We are still learning what to expect when we have to call.
After they got the truck fixed we were on our way home and had a blowout that damaged the side of our 5th wheel. Another call to GS and an hour later someone showed up to change the tire.
We are now back home (Alabaster, AL) tired but safe and dry having beat some pretty sever storms coming in from Mississippi.
Again, thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I think when I put the RV in the shop I'm going to have a generator added.

If no fridge how are you keeping food cold?

Unless you know for sure I would call Good Sam again and ask them if they will tow the trailer out of the rest area.

Check your policy or give Good Sam a call. If you have the RV roadside protection they will tow both vehicles.

If you just have the auto protection policy then they will only tow the tow vehicle.
