I never check SOC anymore. And I throwed my nasty hydrometer away years before that. I don't need no nasty hrdrometer to tell me a battery has a bad cell .A volt meter tells me that just fine.And when it has a bad cell, I sure don't need or want to know which cell it is, I couldn't care less. I thrive on ammeters and voltmeters, and I have 2 load testers.
And I never have any battery problems, they always perform very well.
And my last ones lasted over 9 yrs. In return, I treat my batteries very well too.
