Battery Water Deionizer

http://www.powrparts.com/deionizersystem.aspx

I can only wish it were less expensive. Eliminates the need for carrying heavy distilled water. But I imagine this critter would be feasible for remote cabins with huge battery banks...

  • the last I checked the label of the distilled water I buy at walmart, it said it was processed by, ozonation, micro filtration, UV light, and steam distilled. Hard to get much more than that. :)
    bumpy
  • Distilled and deionized water are both forms of purified water from which dissolved salts and minerals have been removed.

Distillation is a physical process--boiling/condensing water removes impurities including bacterial

Deionization is a chemical process--using cation & anion beds removes ion impurities via natural electrical charge but doesn't remove bacterial impurities

Close but 'not the same'---but for general use YES
  • Deionized water isn't the same as distilled water is it?
  • Funny thing is 'this knuckle-dragging only capable of single syllables' made distilled water in NAVY/Major Utility Power Plants for 30 yrs. using every method
Compression Stills, Flash Evaporators, Mixed Bed Cation/Anion Demineralizers, ROs for high pressure superheated steam boilers and once thru boilers.

Sea water, contaminated water, high mineral content well water, service water

Yeah I know a thing or two about pure water.

And for $1 I can still by a gallon of distilled water for my batteries

    x2

  • Gallon of distilled water costs about $1 and last me the whole year PLUS

I only need to 'add' a little bit to set of batteries once maybe 2X a year

Now if I had a huge bank of batteries........well guess I would still just get gallon of distilled water.
