Battery wrench- save your face

Arcing at the battery can cause a battery explosion in your face or damage something so be careful. Cut the box end off and cover with heat shrink.

  • Doesn't everyone remove the ground wire first? With that off, there is no problem.

    I think that went away around 1950 or so.
    BTW, I always hold my big paw on the other end of the wrench but still remove the ground cable first.

    A very good idea! We warn against wearing a watch, particularly one with a metal band, around "machinery." Years ago I worked for a car dealership and we were sent to a customer's home to remove the car battery for long-term storage. The mechanic used a box wrench on the positive before disconnecting the negative. Wrench got beyond red-hot right away. Mech grabbed it with a rag and threw it in a nearby kiddie pool. Wrench-shaped hole through the bottom of the pool...
