Best way to bring shine back to fiberglass body.

The finish on my RV is dull. Is there anyway to bring shine back?

  • Try the Zep process on a small section of your RV. You'll be amazed at the results.
  • Terryallan, thanks for responding, I'll show your method to my husband and let him decide.
  • Thank you both for responding!!! I have printed the instructions provided in the link.
  • Honestly. To bring Gel coat back the way it should be done. You will need to water sand it with no less than 400 grit water paper. Then buff it with a super low grit buffing compound, and then wax it. Yes it is labor intensive. But it is the only way to get the original shine back.

I once did that to a 21 FT boat, hull, and deck. Took a few weeks, 8 hours a day. But when I got finished. It looked like new. And I had new boats sitting beside of it to compare with.
  • Here's the Red Max Pro/Zep Process.

Red Max Pro is no longer available, ZEP#3 is the same product. Or, use the wax of your choice. Preparation is the key to a nice finish.

It does a nice job on our 1996 Southwind.
  • Do a forum search on Red Max Pro or ZEP wet look floor finish. I have used everything on many old Fiberglas units and find that you can’t beat the look using this product. Preparation takes the most time as you want everything to be as clean as possible before applying the liquid floor wax. Once you are done, the look will last for a long time before it will need reapplication.
