Instead of screwing on the protective screen use GOOP or some product like it.
GOOP is a thick gel apply a layer of Goop to the areas you wish to not cover with a solid cover. Press the screen onto the goop (Dampen fingers or glove up as it sticks well to skin) sets in just a few minutes fully sets in 30.
