- Ron3rdExplorer IIIRead up on PEX and you'll get all the info you need. No glues/cements are used.
- SageCrispinExplorerUnless you are re-piping the whole house/RV, there is no reason to invest in a clamp system. The SharkBite type fittings are too easy and too reliable to not use for DIY work in modern times. They can be reused and refitted if you screw up the cut (clean and square with a cheap plastic Pex cutter followed by a Pex de-burring tool) and are available in brass and plastic. I like the plastic in the RV as it is more forgiving than brass if it should ever get frozen.
- RJsfishinExplorerPVC cutter works great.
And Flair-it fittings. My whole house and RV is all (OEM) pex w/ flair-it,
and flair-it don't break the bank ! - D_E_BishopExplorerDouble post.

There are two different types of tool and rings. Most do it yourself guys buy the cinch ring tool. Cheaper and works on all sizes. The crimp rings/tool are more expensive and you need a different tool or adapter for each size.
Sharkbite type of fittings work but if you use it often the tool and cinch rings are the way to go.
May be so but I've never had a push on fitting leak and our Bounder had the crimp on type and we had several leak.
As far as costs are concerned, our DD got quotes for repiping their house, copper with brass push on fitting vs copper soldered, almost the same. The difference is in how much they had to tear out in order to solder. Push on were faster and less repair of L&P walls.
Not all fittings are in locations that are accessible, most were installed before the finish work was done and a crimp tool can be difficult to use in the belly of a RV.
When cutting pipe, it is always advisable to have square cuts, I've been using my PVC cutters an not had a problem with the "flattening". - joebedfordNomad III've made a few plumbing mods using pex copper crimp rings. Cheap tool that uses vise grips to crimp the ring. No problems.
- jplante4Explorer III wasn't a plumber until they invented Shark Bite fittings :)
- mobeewanExplorerPEX is made of crossed linked polyethylene.
- fitznjExplorerI've used the "Shark-bite" type fittings with great success - use the right
cutter (from HD/Lowes); The nice thing with these fittings is that they can
be disconnected if you need to and then re-used. - gboppExplorerHow many connections will you be making? It may be easier/cheaper to use the push fittings if it's only a few connections.
