Brake Pedal Not Returning - UPDATE

On my gas motorhome the brake pedal is not returning. When I press the brake pedal the disk brakes work just fine but the pedal do not return to its full up position. The brakes are not dragging, the pedal just does not return to the full up position.

Any idea what might be the cause and or fix?

Thanks
  • Thanks for the reply wa8yxm. The coach goes in for state inspection this week so I will let them deal with the issue. My flexibility limits me from seeing under the dash. I was able to see a spring but unable to establish if it was working. The pedal moves up enough to no drag the brakes, but the brake lights remain on. When I lift the pedal back to its top position the brake lights go off.

The pedal is returned by a spring. Where that spring is I'm not sure.

One thing that might cause that issue (Depends on how close to full up it comes)
is the brake light switch.. MOST (not all) modern vehicles the Brake Light switch is operated by the pedal. if it is "Frozen" in the "ON position. the pedal will not come up all the way.. But I seriously doubt you'd notice it.

For this one .. Unlless a brake specialist checks in. I'd recommend professional assistance.
