Be sure to checkout your converter/charger unit when you get back to being hooked to shore power again. Most everyone that has this happen to them also lost their converter/charger. Anything that is always ON or left ON will blow up when this happens.. The converter/charger is what charges your trailer battery when on Shore Power and if it runs down below 50% charge state for a long period of time it will have to be replaced as well...
Be sure to check everything once you get back to shore power. You may find other things that have blown up as well...
Be kind to your brother-inlaw - nothing worth getting into fights about... Even the licensed Electrical Contractors make the same mistakes when it comes to RV Wiring verses House Wiring... It is simply unknown territory for them..
