But the PWM controller as a buck converter just passes through whatever amps the panel is supplying up to the Isc of the panel.
With the buck thing in the MPPT controller, it does more amps than the panel makes. Not talking about MPPT here, don't care about fine tuning the power point, just want more amps like you get with MPPT controllers in PWM mode using their buck thing.
Mr Wiz seems to think my idea might just work, but I am not clear on how one would set the volts and amps on the gizmo and what range of volts and amps you need in the gizmo specs for choosing one.
Not clear if you had the gizmo if you even need the controller either.
