Bypassing Selector Valve

Question

Discovered that the fuel selector valve that switches tanks is bad on our 1985 E350 and that part is available however the pigtail that goes to is bad and Ford never even made a replacement for that part and we have been unable to find a replacement even from salvage yards. Does anyone know if the selector valve can be bypassed and the two fuel lines be joined together?

When the valve draws fuel from the front tank it should send return fuel to that tank. I think you should use the valve or one tank coukd over fill. What is wrong with the wires?
