Our rig has two separate co-ax cable inputs on the outside. The first co-ax connection being for cable input. The second terminal is a straight run of co-ax cable through the couch, the other end terminated in the television cabinet. It's my understanding that satellite boxes don't play well with switches and/or splitters in a cable run. We rented a Direct TV box somewhere in Arkansas and used the Satellite connection on the rig. No problem. The secret may be getting a straight shot from outside the couch to the inside, sans intermediate devices. It's also possible your rig has an Antennae/Cable switch. Make sure it's in the cable position, but it still may not function with a satellite box simply because the Antennae/Cable switch is in-line of your cable run.
EDIT: Perhaps taking that signal booster out of the picture will help. If, you can get to back of it and the cable attached to it. Maybe. I'm guessing a lot, here.
