Camper black water tank fluid heats up

Do you have tank heaters to prevent them freezing?
Make and model of rig?

Sounds like tank heaters are turned on. Kind of like "heated mirrors."

Did you have bean burritos for dinner before this happened? :E

You may as others have suggested have tank heaters turned on (Electric heaters)
Also black tank contents do tend to be warmer not hot but warmer due to biological activity. But I'd not expect it to be more than a few degrees.

Hot water does not normally go into the black tank. well 98.6 degrees but that is Luke Warm.

1. MOST tank heaters are 12 volt and could NEVER heat the contents hot enough to notice.
2. MOST Tank heaters have a built in Tstat in the connection at the tank heater, so they would not operate above 40 degrees ambient temp
3. STEAMING Water from the Black Tank?????????? I would check your diet, not worry about heat from the RV systems:B
4. Your Water Heater regardless of proximity to ANYTHING cannot transmit any excess heat, especially to a Black tank or Gray tank.
5. Yes, you are going to have to climb underneath to determine what is happening.
6. Now, it IS possible you have a HOT Water line connected to the toilet instead of a COLD water line. THAT is easy to verify. Run the toilet flush and put your hand on the Water Intake line behind the toilet. IF it is HOT/VERY warm, that is how you are getting hot water to the toilet, but still, enough to cause the Tank to "steam"? NO WAY. Doug

By handling the hoses while dumping or touching the outside of the tank while underneath if it is uncovered.

If you sit on the toilet and hold the trap open for a number 2, there is steam enough for you gentlemen to steam your dangly parts. No need to get uppity Doug. The tank water is hot!
