It is amazing and confusing. I needed a convertor/charger for my motorhome. My RV dealer/mechanic gave me a price of $450 through their supplier. I found an upgrade replacement on line for $299 with free shipping. I also found a new invertor replacement on line for $277 with free shipping where they wanted $464.
Not sure why (haven't asked) but it seems that they only use one supplier for needed parts. I am lucky in that they have no problem installing items that I find cheaper on line. And the easy part is that I have the items shipped directly to them.
If you are ever in Delaware and need service check out Alexander's RV in Smyrna, Delaware. if so , say Hi to Dawn for me!
I was at my dealer earlier this month getting work done on my fiver. I also wanted a new awning material replacement. I had already done my homework so when I asked them what they would charge me for a replacement, it was $80 more than I had priced it on Amazon, with $10 shipping (I'm an Amazon Prime member but this wasn't a "Prime" item). He told me that he would match Amazon's price, but the shipping would be a little higher. I told him that I wasn't going to pay a penny more for the same item. He matched it exactly. The dealers know their prices are marked up too high and if you give them a chance, most will come down on their price if you can prove that you can get it somewhere else at a better price.
