Have you noticed the increase in beef prices at your local grocery store. That increase in direct relation to the price of diesel. The rancher is paying more for feed and making about the same price per pound and it is no longer cheap to get something to your door. If you were to order something large that requires delivery by LTL truck you will find a line on the shipping bill for the fuel surcharge. The primary driver on any delivery is fuel and the trucking companies know it will change load to load so they adjust cost by a fuel surcharge. The only answer to this problem is to drive over and get it your self. We who understand that the people who package your part have to be paid, packing materials have to be bought and the electric bill has to be paid will pay this "rip off" fee if it is cheaper than wasting the time driving to the store in the hope that we can find something that will work.
If you really want to blame someone for these "rip off" fees blame the speculators/banks that now play in the commodities futures business and run the price up on everything. Oh wait, that might have an effect on how your 401K performs and we can't have that return decrease.
