Capacitor for complete electrical system not just air?

I know there are hard start capacitors for air conditioners, but my question is are there solutions for the entire electrical system. IE: a capacitor which would provide surge current for any load on the system (microwave, AC, or anything else)?

  • Some inverters can provide surge current in excess of the supply limit for momentary loads. The new Magnum Hybrid series is one such.

  • Sure you can have a capacitor for the entire system - but its power will probably be too short lived to be of much use.

Yes, they are called power factor correction capacitors if you have fairly large inductive loads. Not easy to implement/install for most equipment.
