CFL bulbs

Have three of them in front of the outside of my house on a hard wired timer. Been there for a couple of years. Today I noticed that when they were off two of them were flickering a little. One more than the other. They never get real bright and flicker pretty fast. Hard to believe if it was a timer problem as one doesn't do it at all. Any ideas?

    They are becoming worn out....probably.
OR the ground is bad to those two sockets.

Since you have more CFLs on hand, replace them and see what happens.

    On my way.

  • I'll agree on the LED's, just be aware that LED's running as outside security, or any other long term lighting have nowhere near lit lifespan claimed. Read the fine print..

All of my LED's are x2-x3 larger than the required use, but they are being controlled by dimmers at 50% or less. That's how you get the claimed hours or better.
  • Gee I got about a dozen of em that were practically nothing. Sure there is a reason for that. Any reason why there flickering?
  • Ditch the CFLs and buy LEDs. Walmart has 60W equivalents for $2.88.
IMHO CFLs are a waste of time and their day has come and gone.
