Change Porch Light bulb

I have a Springdale Summerland 2820, how do I get the cover off this porch light? Do you think it is the same bulbs as the interior lights? I am sure this is pretty easy but until I do something once, I am all thumbs.

thank you for advice,

Dean

  • When I had that type, I could grasp the lens by top and bottom with one hand and squeeze it slightly to pry it loose. Sun kills these BTW, so order spares off the internet for later use.

An 1156 will melt that fixture, the correct bulb is a #93 or #1003.

Mine did melt - replacing the incandescent bulb with an LED bulb solved the issue entirely.
  • Im pretty sure there are two tabs on the bottom and a single tab up top. As described above I used small flat blade screwdriver and pried gently up top and the top of lens will pop out. Give the inside of the lens a cleaning while ur changing bulbs. You can also put in an LED replacement if power consumption is an issue. I do believe its a standard 1156 standard automotive 12v bulb.

  • Look carefully around the edge of the lens and see if you can see any of those tabs. I'd pry, very carefully, nearest any one of the tabs I could locate. You may have to try different locations, but you should be able to wiggle something eventually. The good thing is, replacement lenses are pretty cheap and easy to find if you break it. Pry gentle. Look closely to see if you can see any of those tabs.

    Good luck.

Here's a link with an image that shows you how the lens attaches. It has little tips that simply hook under the frame of the light. Use a very small fine flat screw driver and pry it out. The bulb is probably an automotive 1156 standard bulb.

Do I need to pry from the top or bottom?

    thanks,
