Changing Odometer/Trip from km to miles - Need Help

Just bought a used Class C with a wheelchair lift from a dealer in Canada. They had it and one other made specifically for their rental business.

It is a 2013 build on a 2012 Ford E450 V-10. Both the chassis and coach were built in the U. S. for the Canadian market. It has passed the importation process and I am getting ready to register it here.

Speedometer has Km/hr most prominent; mi/hr is on inner ring almost invisible. Not really an issue. Here is my problem. The odometer and trip meters, though, show in km and that just bothers the heck out of me. Try to figure out how much 'East Overshoe' 37 mi.' on a road sign is in km to decide if you have enough fuel.

These are digital, so ought to be easy to shift between km and mi output. I have found how to enter the "test" mode on the display. I cannot, however, figure out how to reset km to mi on the menu.

Can anyone help? Do I have to stand at attention and sing O Canada?
  • Here is what I have tried, so far:

Have to hold the "reset" button before turning vehicle on. The "gauge test" is first up and goes into a test immediately. After the test, nothing seems to happen, so I hit "reset" again.

The second menu looks like it might be where km/mi display might be changed, but nothing I do has any effect. Trying to press and hold it at that point just takes me to the next menu item.

BTW, does anyone know a good source to explain all the other abbreviations that show during the tests?

As far as finding a Ford dealer, if you can believe it, Colorado Springs (pop. roughly 650,000) has two Ford dealership locations. Neither one will work on RVs. I am in the process of checking with the other Ford-related brands to see if they can do the work.

"Press and release the SELECT/RESET stem, located in the speedometer, to scroll and reset the following functions. Select or reset the function by holding the SELECT/RESET stem for more than two seconds."

The first option it pulls up for you to change should be language, but the way I read the manual if you allow it to fully RESET it should default all options to English and Imperial measurements which is what you want for the US.

BTW, what you're looking for in the manuals is any reference to "Message Center".
  • I looked at the owners manual online, and it explained exactly how to change from metric to english display. Go to the dealer service department, just tell them its a truck, and ask how to do it. Don't bother telling them its a RV. Just ask.
