We have a Duo-Therm Comfort Center that controls the dual zones with 2 A/Cs with heat pump/strip and the furnace but I would really like one that has a timer so that I can set it to adjust temperatures during the day just like the stick house ones.Has anyone ever changed one out to one with a timer and which one did you use?I seem to remember that household ones run off 24V so not sure what is available for RVs

I would check with Duo-Therm and see what they have. It may be hard to convert it to a residential set back unit. It depends on the electrical interface. Pull your unit off and check the wiring.

I see that they now have a Comfort Center II but I don't know if it's 'plug compatible' with the old one, nor can I see how programmable it is (the web site dishes up the manual for the old one only!)Also it's horizontal rather than vertical and as ours is mounted inside a wall box I don't think it will fitBut I might not have any other choice.....

We had a Duo-Therm furnace and AC that operated with a remote to a sensor in the ceiling. It really sucked and we had it changed. My point is that the control unit had to be changed also. It was about $300, covered under warranty. I would check with Dometic before I changed anything.

Not Correct. They have what they call "Hi Capacity" units which are larger than 13.5 but less than 15k. They will NOT state what the BTU is , just that it is more than 13.5 btu. Doug

The "high capacity" unit appears to just have more refrigerant. See Product Sheet.

The problem is the 12 button control module in the AC/HP unit is NOT compatible with a 5 or 4 button HP unit. You CANNOT upgrade a 5 button HP to a 12 button by installing the new 12 button control board at the HP unit. The older HP have different wiring than the current HP 12 button. You can upgrade a 5 button AC only to the 12 button, but not a HP without possibly doing wiring modifications which Dometic will not advise or reccomend to do. Doug

You can reuse the phone style data cable, but will need new controllers in each unit.

Do you know if the telephone cord control wiring is the same between the 2 controllers?

I'm thinking of changing out both ACs anyway to the new 15K units and it would be nice if I didn't have to start fishing new cables through the coach.

I have the CCII, but it came with my new Penguin IIs. I think the only way to use a CCII with older units is to replace the control boards for both Acs.

Anyway, the CCII is a cut above the 4- and 5-button thermostats. The CCII is easier to use and it more like a house thermostat.
