Chassis batteries not charging

OK so the other day I noticed that my chassis batteries were not being charged as usual. I keep our 2012 Winnebago Journey plugged in at the house all the time, and in the past the chassis batteries were kept at about 13.4v +/-. According to my manuals, I have a "Trik-L-Start" unit on the coach, but looking at all the wiring diagrams for this unit I can't locate it. Anyone have knowledge as to where I can find this unit to test it?

  • Chassis: The frame from the factory with running gear that gets shipped to the motorhome manufacturer.

House: What the RV manufacturer sticks on the chassis.

    Chassis: Engine starting battery

House: Accessories batteries for lights, water pump, refrigerator, tc.

    Hope this helps
  • I think you are better to look at the RV rather than the drawing as it is an aftermarket device even if factory installed.

Look near the batteries or battery relays.
  • I would expect it to be a little black plastic box about 3"x3"x4" and mounted somewhere on the side of the battery box - within 3 - 5' of the batteries. Probably has a green label on it.

Is it possible they were referring to the little trickle solar panel they like to mount on the roof of the MH, usually on top of the air conditioner?
