- DutchmenSportExplorerLots of dishwashing liquid, like Dawn. Add some water, add some Dawn, drive around and let the water slosh, then dump. If there's any grease, the Dawn will break it down. When washing dishes, absolutely no grease down the drain. We ALWAYS use paper towel and wipe pots, pans, plates off first then throw the paper away. We do the same in the house too.
Use dish washing liquid generously, and you should never have smells. Occasionally, fill the tank with nothing but clean water and then dump it all. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

So do I. It's called water. Like said in a previous post " If everything is working properly there should be no odor inside.".
Exactly.......
If there is an odor from ANY waste tank inside the RV then something ain't right.
Either toilet floor flange or toilet bowl seal aren't good
'P' traps aren't holding water
Air Admittance Valves aren't closing
Tank vents are plugged/clogged
OR drain line to/vent line from tanks are cracked - skyhammerExplorer

In my camper there is no trap for the shower/tub, it flows straight to the tank. there is also no roof vent. I use the same stuff that is for the black tank.
I don't have odor in the black tank, as I don't allow the toilet to be used.
Really? No trap and no vent!!! :E I have never seen or heard of this before....seems to me that this would be NOT GOOD!
Don't use the toilet? :h Why do you have it then? I've heard others say the same thing and I just can't understand the reasoning behind it. To each his own...I suppose.
As for chemicals in the gray... I'm with others on this. The dish soap that is in there should take care of any odors as long as you use plenty of water to flush everything out when you drain the tank. However, if indeed this doesn't help, then I would probably put a few gallons of water in the tank and add a couple cups of Pine Sol and drive to the next campground with that solution sloshing around.
Good luck...stinky tanks is not fun.

I have never seen a roof vent for the black or gray water in camper, they may exist, but the ones I have seen don't have it. Some have a roof vent for the frig, but I don't.There may be a vent somewhere else, but not on the roof.
The bath room sink which flows into the black tank has a trap, as well as the kitchen sink which flows into the gray tank has a trap.
The only things on my campers roof are the AC and fan vent.
I have never needed to use the toilet so far in 3 years,I find it easier to walk to a restroom or just go outside, I find that easier than dealing with******in a hose.If I need to take a leak while in the camper, I use a jug. I rarely use the toilet in my house, there are no toilets on my 4000 acre ranch except for the house and I am usually miles away from the house. - powderman426Explorer

-Empty gray holding tank and close tank.
-Then mix four tablespoons of Happy Campers Tank Treatment and a gallon of water.
-Drain mix into tank.
-Finish filling with fresh water until you see it coming up into the shower drain.
-Let it sit overnight.
-Empty in the morning
Very smelly stuff tends to grow on the top of gray tanks and this will clean it off. - badboy368Exploreri use the same in black and grey tanks
- big_bufordExplorerGeo method. I use in black and gray. Couldn't be any easier. I prefer white king powder water softener and laundry detergent.
- ernie1Explorer IITo solve gray tank sensors' false readings and to remove the accumulated gunk inside, I've made my own mini flushing wand type thing which attaches to a hose and is inserted through the drain hole at the bottom of the tank. Works great!
