Class T fuses for inverters

I was reading my Samlex inverter manual and found a requirement for a Class T fuse between it and the battery bank.

After further reading it seems this is a common recomended safety practice for inverter wiring. Or any high current dc wiring.

Interesting what you can find in well written manuals.

  • I had to search for this info on Class T fuses and glad I found it. I'm getting this Samlex Evo inverter/charger, its a great price and a well respected company but want to know if I should go with a 300 or 350 Amp fuse. They did say the 300 would work too depending on cable/distance and my plan is about 4-6 feet and 2/0 cable. What say you? I think they might oversize a little to be sure.

  • smkettner, brings up an excellent point. The performance/time rating of different classes of fuses.
  • I would go a little tight on a Class-T as they take a bit of time or huge overload to open.

Blue Sea has a graph if you need me to dig it up.
  • My rig has two 300A class T fuses with one 2500w inverter.
